KZOO Spartans Endowment Fund

Would you like to make a gift that really has a long-term impact? Our local MSU Alumni Club has the answer. READ ON!!

What is an Endowment? …An Investment in the Future
Endowed fund gifts differ from others in that the total amount of the gift is invested. Each year, only a portion of the invested income earned is spent while the remainder adds to principal growth. In this respect, an endowment is a perpetual gift. While all gifts to Michigan State University contribute to the high quality of education, research, and outreach, endowments are particularly meaningful as they offer a dependable, perpetual source of funding.

Our Local Club Endowment
The MSU Alumni Club of Kalamazoo established an Endowment Fund in 2007 to provide a steady, consistent and permanent source of scholarship monies for Kalamazoo area students in need, attending MSU. Michigan State University requires a minimum endowment fund of $30,000. Through generous donations of local Spartans and fundraisers, the fund became fully endowed in 2008. MSU manages the fund through their overall endowment structure. Our local club works with the financial aid office at MSU to identify scholarship money candidates and awards scholarship monies on an annual basis based upon endowed fund income performance.

How can I contribute to this endowment?
While we have “endowed” our fund, the growth potential and scholarship award potential is unlimited. Any contribution to this fund is fully tax-deductible and often can be fully matched by a matching gift employer (double your donation). Please consider making a gift that lasts!

Contribution can be made in several ways:

  • Cash or Checks indicating an allocation code or a name of the endowment
  • You can give any funds in your retirement account IRA, 401K OR 401 (b)
  • You can give gifts of stock
  • You can give a charitable bequest or even part of your estate

If you are interested in contributing, please contact Jeff Monroe or any other Kalamazoo Club officer for further information.

GO STATE! YOU ARE GREAT for sharing your gifts!!

I’m currently a 4.0 student planning to major in Marketing. I grew up in Kalamazoo, graduating from Hackett High School and the Kalamazoo Area Mathematics and Science Center. I work in the Advertising Department of The State News (MSU’s newspaper).
Receiving this $1300 scholarship will be extremely beneficial for both my family and me. I’d like to thank the MSU Alumni Club of Kalamazoo for this amazing scholarship, along with all the opportunities and happiness it will bring.
I wish you the best of luck with this spectacular club.
